3 wounded NPA communist terrorists receive medical attention

CAMP SANG-AN, ZDS—The three captured NPA communist terrorists who sustained wounds after an encounter were brought to the Zamboanga del Norte Medical Center in Dipolog City for immediate medical treatment.

In the morning of December 17, the combined troops of 97IB and 42IB had a 10-minute encounter with the NPA in Barangay Nazareth, Sergio Osmeña Sr., Zamboanga del Norte. They were able to capture three NPA communist terrorists and recover war materiels.

The captured CNTs, abandoned by their comrades, are members of the Guerilla Front BBC of the Western Mindanao Regional Party Committee (WMRPC).

According to Lt. Col. Nolasco Coderos Jr., the combined troops were conducting pursuit operations following a series of encounters starting on December 1 when they were engaged with 15 CNTs 2 kilometers from the barangay center.

Villamor Galleon AKA Badong/Loloy, 64; and Rosalinda Saberon AKA Nida/Meddy, 53, were later transported to the 1st Infantry Division (1ID) and are now being treated by the medical staff of KCSSH.

Maj. Gen. Gene Ponio, the 1ID commander, lauded the 97IB and 42IB for showing such a commendable act toward the enemy of the state. “The Army is a professional organization manned by disciplined officers and soldiers who have taken an oath to respect the rights of the Filipino people,” said Maj. Gen. Ponio.
