Del Pilar, Piñan, Zamboanga del Norte – Army’s 97th Infantry “Kalasaglahi” Battalion (97th IB) conducted a two (2) days Non-Commissioned Officer (NCO) Corps Assembly with the theme of “Leadership to Accomplish the Mission” held at 97th IB, Main Command Post, Barangay Del Pilar, Piñan, Zamboanga del Norte last 17-18 April 2021.
The 97th IB is celebrating its 3rd Battalion Founding Anniversary with one of its activities being the NCO Corps Assembly to recognize the contributions and dedication of its NCO leaders and personnel in accomplishing the 97th IB mission for past 3 years.
“We are very thankful that our Battalion led by our Battalion Commander Lt. Col. Boransing has given us an opportunity like this to recognize the efforts and contributions of every NCOs and personnel in this unit.” Technical Sergeant Moise Polinar (Inf) PA the unit’s Sergeant Major said on his message.
A total of 53 NCO with the rank of Corporal to Master Sargent attended the activity.
NCOs from different unit were invited as speakers to conduct lectures and shared their insights to participants; Corporal Fritz Lloyed Prejoles (Inf) PA from 53rd Infantry Battalion the Best Enlisted Personnel of the Philippine Army conducted a lecture in combat operations and shared his insights and accomplishments as NCO leader during combat operations. Senior Master Sergeant Fernando P De Mesa (MI) PA conducted lectures in Military Intelligence to strengthen the NCO’s knowledge in Intelligence Operations. Retired Senior Master Sergeant Antonio Arquiza (Inf) PA shared his experiences during his stint as a Soldier and on what should the mindset and expectations of an Army soldier after retirement. Lastly, Senior Master Sergeant Melchor P Bitara (MI) PA the 1st Infantry Division Sergeant Major also conducted lecture and shared his insights to the unit’s NCOs and motivated them to work hard, do what is right and always look for the morale of their subordinates.
On his message Lt. Col. Manaros M Boransing II, the 97th IB Commanding Officer, welcome all the participants and visitors.
“Let me thank all of you (NCOs) for your dedication at work and contributions, your sacrifices led this unit in accomplishing our previous missions that was given to us. Let’s continue what we are doing and let’s finish the fight against insurgecy in Zamboanga del Norte.” Lt. Col. Boransing said.
“As a NCO you are are leaders and I expect you to lead our troops in the best way, carry on, do what is right and be an inspiration to your junior enlisted man.” Lt. Col. Boransing added.
At the end of activity certificates of appreciation was given to all the guest lecturers and speakers.
