New Recruits with Special Skills Take Oath

CAMP SANG-AN, Zamboanga del Sur | New recruits with special skills took oath during the flag raising ceremony held at the grandstand today, 12 April 2021.

The 1st Division has implemented a need-based recruitment scheme, giving priority for enlistment to candidates with special skills that are direly needed by the Command.

Forty one (41) newly enlisted privates were composed of twenty five (25) males and sixteen (16) females.

They were selected by the Division Candidate Soldier Selection Board based on their courses and capabilities, such as social workers, journalist, computer programmers, multi-media professionals, nurses, psychiatrists and emergency medical technicians.

The recruits will undergo sixteen weeks rigid military training to be conducted by the 1st Division Training School.

Brig. Gen. Bagnus P Gaerlan Jr, Assistant Division Commander who represented Maj.Gen. Gene M Ponio as the keynote speaker of the activity reminded the new recruits to use their skills that they possess in order to contribute to the accomplishment of the unit’s mission.

“You were called to serve, always bear in mind that this is a lifetime commitment. It is important to give your best and excell in all your undertakings.” Bgen. Gaerlan said.

In the same occasion, newly assigned officer was also welcomed and was officially pinned with the Tabak patch as a gesture of acceptance to the 1st Infantry (Tabak) Division, the oldest, premier and fightingest Division of the Philippine Army.
