KUTA MAJ. CESAR SANG-AN, Zamboanga del Sur — The 1st Infantry (TABAK) Division proudly awarded one of its personnel in the occasion of the 124th Philippine Army Founding Anniversary celebrations here on Monday, March 22, 2021.
Corporal Fritz Floyd T Prejoles of the 53rd Infantry (MATAPAT) Battalion, was adjudged as the Best Enlisted Personnel of the whole Philippine Army for Calendar Year 2020. Brig. Gen. Bagnus Gaerlan Jr., the Assistant Division Commander, handed the Plaque to Cpl Prejoles while other Philippine Army units witnessed the ceremony via live video teleconferencing platform.
Cpl Prejoles was also awarded with a gold cross medal for gallantry in action while serving as Section Leader during their encounter against members of the Communist Terrorist Group the New People’s Army in Barangay Dumingag, Zamboanga del Sur on September 21, 2020, that resulted in the neutralization of communist NPA leaders and the recovery of several high powered firearms.
BGen. Gaerlan delivered the message of Lt. Gen. Jose Faustino Jr, Commanding General, Philippine Army (CGPA) during the flag-raising ceremony on the day of the celebrations.
In his message Brig. Gen. Gaerlan highlighted the bravery and professionalism of every Tabak Trooper as exemplified by Cpl Prejoles that made them “a cut above the rest.” He urged the personnel to emulate the deeds and character of Cpl Prejoles in order to foster the glorious traditions of Tabak Troopers.
“Here in the 1st Infantry (TABAK) Division, we are governed by the culture of excellence and the continuous effort to be the best in every endeavour that we engaged in,” Brig. Gen. Gaerlan added.
The 124th Philippine Army Founding Anniversary celebration in 1ID was highlighted by the Anniversary Messages of the Lt. Faustino, CGPA, and National Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana, as the Guests of Honor and Speakers.
“124 Years of Commitment in Serving the People, Securing the Land. Let us embody these core values toward our country’s peace and progress while braving the challenges of natural and man-made disasters, terrorism, and the Covid-19 pandemic.” Lt. Gen. Faustino said.
“Let us be steadfast in our duties as we march closer to our vision of becoming a world-class Army, that is a source of national pride,” Lt. Gen. Faustino concluded.
