CAMP SANG-AN, ZDS | Newly elected officers of the Tabak Defense Press Corps (TDPC) took their oath during the Induction of Officers held at the Headquarters 2nd Mechanized Infantry Brigade, Iligan City Wednesday, March 10, 2021.
The officers were elected last February 12, 2021 during the media fellowship hosted by 1st Infantry Division in their headquarters.
Ms. Divina Suson the President in her speech said her leadership to the TDPC will focus on institutionalizing and professionalizing the organization of working journalist who regularly covered the military beat under the 1st ID.
She said, the TDPC may be partner of the AFP in the area in telling the public what they did in the community, but the members will not forget their job as the fourth state.
“We will report what the Army in the area have accomplished but we will not be accomplices in covering up if an Army soldier will go wrong,” Suson said.
Meanwhile Maj. Gen. Gene M. Ponio, Commander 1ID, represented by Brig Gen. Bagnus Gaerlan Jr., Assistant Division Commander, vowed to support the TDPC with their activities, and their community programs that promotes peace, development and tourism in their areas.
“Our peace and development efforts in our area of responsibility will not reach the eyes, ears, minds and hearts of the public without you propagating it”, said Maj Gen Ponio.
Maj. Gen. Ponio ended his message congatulating and thanking the media personalities for their efforts and support to 1ID.
After the program, strategic communications planning was conducted in the same venue.
