The Philippine Army’s 53rd Infantry “MATAPAT” Battalion (53IB) received a Plaque of Commendation from the Municipal Government of Dumalinao, Zamboanga del Sur during the meeting of the Municipal Peace and Order Council (MPOC) held on February 10, 2021, at the Municipal Office of Dumalinao.
53IB Commanding Officer Jo-ar Herrera received the Plaque of Commendation indicating Dumalinao’s Sangguniang Bayan Resolution Number 0159-2021 adopted on February 8, 2020 attested and approved by Municipal Council Presiding Officer and Dumingang Vice Mayor Wilfredo Malong, Sr.
The Resolution of Commendation states: “For the intensive of combat and non-combat operations and strong partnerships with the local government units resulted to the dismantling of Communist Party of the Philippines – New People’s Army (CPP-NPA-NDF) HQ Kalaw and Main Guerilla Unit (MGU) of the Western Mindanao Regional Party Committee (WMRPC) in the Province of Zamboanga del Sur. The united efforts of 53IB and different communities in the Municipality of Dumalinao toward peace and development are aimed at bringing progress for the benefit of the people”.
Dumalinao Mayor Junaflor Cerilles said the commendation for 53IB is a testament of the municipality’s commitment in supporting peace and security efforts to promote progress. “We recognize 53IB’s efficient military operations with the leadership of Lt. Col. Jo-ar Herrera. As partners in building peaceful communities, 53IB’s achievements is also our accomplishments,” Mayor Cerilles said.
“We are honored and very thankful for this commendation. The Municipality of Dumalinao can be assured of our continuous efforts to sustain our gains toward peace and progress,” Lt. Col. Herrera said.
