Army and MILF Partners Meet for Lanao del Sur Peace and Development

MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur — The 103rd Infantry (HARIBON) Brigade spearheaded by Brigadier General Jose Maria R Cuerpo II, Brigade Commander conducts a coordination meeting with the MILF Commanders, CCCH and AJHAG of Lanao del Sur at Headquarters 103rd Infantry (Haribon) Brigade, Kampo Ranao, Marawi City on February 10, 2021, Wednesday.

The activity is an initiative of the Brigade in support to the full implementation of normalization phase of the ongoing peace process with the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF).

During the activity, it was emphasized the need to collaborate all efforts of all parties with the LGU in order to ensure smooth implementation of all government programs. Further, it was also discussed how the security sector and MILF address Rido Settlement, countering the narratives exploited by the Dawlah Islamiyah- Maute Group (DI-MG), efforts in defeating terrorism and extremism of DI-MG remnants; and prevention and mitigation of COVID-19 in Lanao del Sur.

One of the attendees in the coordination meeting is Jannati Mimbantas, the Commander of North Eastern Mindanao that MILF and a Member of Parliament, BARMM. Mimbantas has been part and witness the numerous armed battles of government forces against the MILF over the past four (4) decades.

“This is the best time to implement the peace agreement because we have now the meaningful government and trying their best in enhancing peace and development in Mindanao.” Mimbantas said.

The coordination meeting was also attended by Col Nolie L Anquillano, 103rd Deputy Brigade Commander, MP James Macaraya, BARMM and the different Base Commanders of NEMF MILF; 101st Base Command in Pagayawan; 103rd Base Command in Maguing; 119th Base Command in Butig; 120th Base Command in Lumbatan; 121st Base Command in Masiu; 122ND Base Command in Balindong; and 126th Base Command in Picong all of Lanao del Sur.

Brigadier General Cuerpo II urged the MILF Commanders to unify its efforts towards the establishment of genuine peace in the province. “I am grateful for your continuous support in our peace initiatives. Let’s continue to strengthen our relationship and let’s work hard-in- hand to achieve our common goal of putting the Lanao province free from terrorism” Brigadier General Cuerpo II added.

This activity only shows the eagerness and full commitment of the government forces in pursuing peace and sustainable development in the Province of Lanao del Sur with the partnership of Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) and Coordinating Committee on the Cessation of Hostilities (CCCH).#SoarHighTeamHaribon#AFPyoucanTrust
