CAMP SANG-AN, ZAMBO SUR | A total of eight loose firearms were turned over by the local barangays of Marawi City, Lanao del Sur to Army’s 82nd Infantry Battalion in Brgy. Kilala, Marawi City around 9:30 in the morning, Tuesday, February 09, 2021.
The loose firearms were successfully surrendered through the collaborative efforts of Lt.Col. Rafman S Altre INF (GSC) PA, Commanding Officer, 82IB with the Local chief executives (LCE) of the municipalities of Buadipuso Buntong; Bubong; Ditsaan Ramain; and Clustered lake barangays of Marawi City, Lanao del Sur.
The turned-over loose firearms were consists of three locally made caliber 50 rifle, one FAL Rifle 7.62, one M79 Grenade Launcher, one Garand Rifle; one KG9 sub-machine gun and one handguns.
Meanwhile, Brig. Gen. Jose Maria Cuerpo, 103rd Infantry Brigade Commander stressed that their efforts of proliferation of firearms is continuous in order to sustain the peace and progress of the province. “With the support of local government units and local chief executives or even the local populace, we can achieve a more peaceful locality. Collaboration, coordination and partnership with us will make the province free from all threats,” Brig. Gen. Cuerpo added.
Maj. Gen. Generoso “Gene” Ponio, Commander, 1st Infantry Division commended 82IB for the successful handover of loose firearms. “The support of the Local Government Units, Local Chief executives in collaboration with our troops plays a significant role in keeping the peace and security in our area of responsibility,” Maj General Ponio said.
The said loose firearms were brought to the Headquarters of 82nd Infantry Battalion at Brgy. Pawak, Saguiaran, Lanao del Sur for proper documentation and disposition.
