IPIL, ZSP – The National Housing Authority (NHA) and Local Goverment Units (LGUs) of Siay, Zamboanga Sibugay and Godod, Zamboanga del Norte signed Memorandum of Agreements (MOA) on February 2 and 5, 2021, respectively, for the Housing Projects of Former Rebels (FRs) and Indigenous People (IP).
The housing projects are part of the benefits under the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP) which aims to provide permanent shelters to FRs for their reintegration to the mainstream society.
Meanwhile, IP-Kalibugan and Subanen tribes living in natural-calamity prone areas will alao be given house-on-land units for their immediate resettlement.
“We will bring other agencies through the RTF-ELCAC to help equip these new communities with the livelihood package to ensure that they will be able to provide the basic needs of their families,” said Engr. AL-Khwarizmi Indanan, District Manager, NHA.
“We believe in NHA, “kapag may pabahay, gumaganda ang buhay,” Engr. Indanan added.
The housing projects are expected to be completed within the year and will be handed over to the target beneficiaries.
“We are winning this campaign against Communist Terrorist Groups because the government is sincere with its intent to deliver inclusive programs and projects to the disadvantaged and victims of armed conflict, such as this,” said Brig. Gen. Leonel Nicolas, Commander, 102nd Infantry Brigade.
A total of 410 housing units will be constructed amounting to Php 109,500,000.00 will be implemented in four target areas for these projects.
“We will continue to do our part to defeat the armed groups but we are enjoining the LGUs to sustain our gains as we make the CTGs inconsequential and ensure the insulation of our communities from any influence and deception from any forms of terrorism,” Brig. Gen. Nicolas added.
The LGUs assured the timely execution and completion of the projects for immediate turn-over to the FRs and IPs.
